Spring River G.S.M.

“To make this Shabbat a Delight”, consider a bottle of the Spring River G.S. M. from the Gush Etzion Winery. GSM stands for Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre – three important grapes from the Côtes du Rhône region of France that do very well in Israel’s Mediterranean climate. Aged in oak for 10-12 months, this is a medium bodied wine that is fruit forward with flavors of blackberry and raspberry, soft tannins, and a nice acidity. It is well balanced and offers a smooth finish.
Gush Etzion Winery is located in the Judean Hills between Jerusaelm and Hebron, an area where grapes were grown for thousands of years. The wine is called “Spring River”, as it is named for the long vertical wells connected to an ancient aqueduct built by King Herod more than 2000 years ago. It was how Ancient Jerusalem was supplied with water.
The winery was founded by Shraga Rozenberg, a social worker, who began growing grapes as a hobby in his backyard in the late 1990’s. Today the winery produces about 120,000 bottles, growing 12 different varietals on 37 acres.
The winery is a family business, so it has been very stressful these past few months with Shraga’s son, and VP, serving in the IDF. Tzion, their production manager, is also serving as are many of their workers.
When the war began on Oct. 7th, they had not yet finished the harvest, and then did not have enough staff to complete the work. The winery is truly appreciative to the incredible people of Gush Etzion who volunteered to help them finish the job.
Shraga is doing the best he can to continue the winemaking process while keeping their high standards. Other than production, the winery, tasting room, visitors center, and restaurants have all been closed but hoping to open again soon. Our friends at Gush Etzion want everyone to know they look forward to welcoming you soon.

This Shabbat, let’s help them in the only way we can, by putting a bottle of their wine on your table. I picked up mine through Kosher Wine Warehouse, Free Shipping with a purchase of $99. Use the code ISRAELWINEGIRL for 10% off your entire purchase.
