Tura Mountain Vista Rose 2023

We are completing our “War of Roses” this week with the Tura Mountain Vista 2023 Rose. A combination of 76% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc, this wine is crisp (meaning it has good acidity), fruity, and perfect for sipping on a hot summer day.

On the nose it has aromas of jasmine and grapefruit, and on the palette it is fruity with a delicate sweetness. The grapes were hand picked from Tura’s vineyards on Mount Bracha, which is in the Samaria region of Israel.

The Tura Winery was established in 2003 by Vered and Erez Ben Saadon and continues to be family owned and operated. Although Erez grew up in Jerusalem, he has roots in Morocco and Iran, and feels blessed to be in Israel farming and producing wine. His wife, Vered, was also raised in Jerusalem. She is the grandchild of Holocaust survivors from Holland who made it through the war by hiding in different locations. Vered too feels lucky to live in beautiful Samaria where she and Erez have raised their five children.

The motto for Tura Winery, “Patience and Inspiration”, appears on every bottle and relates to the process of winemaking, but also has special meaning to life in Israel today. The children of Erez and Vered were called to serve as were those of their employees. Erez himself served as a paratrooper, so he understands “war”, and worries for the safety of all Israel. They see soldiers returning injured, including one of their employees who lost an eye, and many suffering from PTSD.

The stress throughout the country has greatly reduced the mood for drinking wine, so sales are down. The visitor center, though open, gets very few guests as there are no tourists. These are difficult times.

This Shabbat, let’s help our friends at Tura Winery by putting their 2023 Rose on your table. Let’s pray for “patience”, allowing the military to do their job, so the people of Israel can live safely, and find “inspiration” from those willing to give their life for the safety of their country and for Jews everywhere.

Tura Mountain Vista Rose can be found at Total Wine stores throughout the US, and most of the online kosher sites. I picked up mine through Kosher Wine Warehouse, free Shipping with a purchase of $99. Use the code ISRAELWINEGIRL for 10% off your entire purchase.
