Kishor Kerem White 2023

This week we are featuring another delicious wine from Kishor Winery, their “Kerem White 2023”. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and Viognier, this wine has a beautiful citrus aroma and on the pallet the taste is fresh, tropical, and has good acidity.

For a “lite and lovely lunch”, pair it with Celebrity Chef Jamie Geller’s Spicy Roasted Corn, Avocado, and Chicken Salad, which has the added bonus of being “Gluten Free”! 

Kishor is a boutique winery located in Israel’s Upper Western Galilee. The first vines were planted at the end of summer 2007, the winery was started in 2009, and the first vintage appeared in 2010. The initial grapes planted were the Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, but that has changed over the years. Like other wineries in the region, they have shifted their focus to vines more suited toward Israel’s Mediterranean climate; such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier. Today they are growing on about 30 acres and hope to produce about 90,000 bottles.

Kishor is owned by the village of Kishorit, a community of adults with special needs who live and work in the village’s different production industries, the winery being one of them. Community members are fully involved in Kishor’s wine production process, which includes caring for the grapes and producing the wines.  

This past week, the violent attack of Hezbollah rockets fired from Lebanon into the Northern areas of Israel has drastically increased. Thousands more Israelis have been forced to flee the area for safer ground as our friends at the wineries are trying to hang on and make it through harvest.  

When asked what we can do to help, the answer remains, “buy our wine and pray for better days”.
