About Tabor Winery

Nestled in the village of Kfar Tavor at the foot of the iconic Mount Tabor, Tabor Winery was founded in 1999 by four families of experienced grape growers. After years of supplying fruit to other producers, they decided to bottle their own wine—starting with just 30,000 bottles annually. Today, Tabor is one of Israel’s leading wineries, with production exceeding 2 million bottles per year.

A New Chapter: Meet Or Nidbach

Tabor’s new head winemaker, Or Nidbach, has officially stepped into the role following the retirement of Aryeh Nesher, who led the winery for an impressive 26 years. Or, who joined Tabor in 2014, trained under Nesher and is now making his own mark—both figuratively and literally. His fingerprint appears on the label of the upcoming Artisanal Series, which showcases his preference for elegant Mediterranean varietals such as Syrah, Grenache, and Marsellan over the bold, high-alcohol styles that have dominated in recent years. Production is already underway, and anticipation is high for their release.

Sustainability at the Core

The Adama series highlights single-varietal expressions from specific vineyards. This Sauvignon Blanc, for example, is made from grapes grown in the limestone-rich soils of the Galilee. “Adama,” meaning “earth” in Hebrew, reflects Tabor’s dedication to terroir and environmental responsibility.

Tabor is widely recognized as one of Israel’s most eco-conscious wineries. Led by chief viticulturist Michal Ackerman, a pioneer in sustainable viticulture, the winery has implemented several innovative practices to protect the land and biodiversity. One standout initiative includes placing owl boxes throughout their vineyards. These owls serve as natural pest control, keeping rodent populations in check without the need for chemicals—a beautifully functional circle of life. So prominent is this initiative that a barn owl now graces Tabor’s logo, making their wines instantly recognizable on the shelf.
