About the Wine
Dalton Alma Red (formerly known as Scarlet) is a classic Mediterranean-style blend composed of 55% Shiraz, 40% Grenache Noir, and 5% Carignan. All of the grapes are grown in Israel’s Galilee region, an area whose climate and terroir are often compared to France’s Rhône Valley.
Both regions enjoy warm, sunny days ideal for ripening full-flavored red grapes like Syrah, while higher elevations and cooler nighttime temperatures help the grapes retain their natural acidity. The Galilee’s limestone-rich soils, along with pockets of volcanic basalt, contribute structure, minerality, and balance to the finished wine.
Each varietal was fermented and aged separately for one year, then carefully blended and given additional aging in oak. The result is a smooth, approachable wine designed for easy drinking without sacrificing complexity.
Alma Red pairs beautifully with dishes rich in Mediterranean flavors. Try it alongside Celebrity Chef Jamie Geller’s Moroccan Lamb Chops recipe.

About the Winery
Dalton Winery was founded in 1995 by the father-and-son team of Alex and Mati Haruni. Of Persian descent, the family moved from England to Israel with a vision of developing what was then an underdeveloped Galilee wine region.
What began as a small plot of land producing just a few thousand bottles has grown into a winery with nearly 300 acres of vineyards and annual production exceeding one million bottles.
Dalton’s philosophy is to produce a diverse portfolio of wines that appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. The Alma label, with its fun and whimsical design, reflects this spirit—inviting moments of relaxation, conversation, and connection.

About the Winemaker
Guy Eshel, Dalton’s head winemaker, is known for his focus on innovation, sustainability, and showcasing the Galilee’s unique terroir. He studied enology at UC Davis and gained international experience working in Napa Valley, France’s Rhône Valley, and Australia before joining Dalton in 2015.
