Whether you’re sipping solo or pairing it with food, Galia Red 2021 is a special treat from Israel’s vineyards 🌄.
About the Wine
The Galia Red 2021 is a Mediterranean-inspired blend of Marselan, Syrah, Carignan, with small amounts of Argaman (an exclusively Israeli varietal) and Caladoc (a Grenache-Malbec cross). It was produced by Carmel Winery specifically for Philadelphia’s renowned CookNSolo Restaurants, co-owned by Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook, best known for their flagship spot, Zahav.
This wine is crafted to be versatile: enjoy it on its own, or pair it with the vibrant Mediterranean cuisine that CookNSolo is known for. The fruit-forward profile is balanced by warm spice and subtle minerality, making it approachable and delicious. Perfect with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or even a quiet evening by itself.

All grapes in this blend originate from France’s Rhône region, adapted beautifully to the Upper Galilee and Judean Mountains terroir. After harvest, the grapes underwent a short skin fermentation to preserve the fresh fruit flavors, followed by five months in stainless steel tanks to allow maturation and refinement.
About the Winery
Carmel Winery, Israel’s second-largest winery, has been a cornerstone of Israeli winemaking since 1882, founded by Baron Rothschild, the owner of Château Lafite. His vision? To create a French-style wine industry in pre-state Palestine.
Carmel now spans numerous vineyards across Israel, harvesting around 25,000 tons of grapes annually and producing roughly 15 million bottles each year. Their portfolio ranges from the approachable “Selected” line to Premium Single-Vineyard labels, and includes part ownership of Kayoumi and Yatir wines. Not to mention, they also produce the ever-popular BUZZ line 🐝.
About the Winemaker

Yiftah Perets, Carmel’s chief winemaker, is often credited with elevating the winery’s reputation on the world stage. Trained in Italy, Yiftah graduated in Oenology and Viticulture from the prestigious Viticultura de Enologia, gaining early experience at Monta Rosa Winery and Podere di San Pietro.
Returning to Israel in 2006, Yiftah joined Carmel, bringing expertise and a deep appreciation for the winery’s history and values. By 2018, he became head winemaker, leading a team of talented winemakers dedicated to continually evolving Carmel’s portfolio, day in and day out.
