🌹 About the Wine

A traditional Provence-style Rosé, this wine is a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah grapes grown in the Judean Hills. It is crisp, fruit-forward, and bursting with citrus flavors balanced by lively acidity.

As with all traditional Provence-style Rosés, the grapes were left on their skins for a few hours to achieve the wine’s delicate pink color. They were then pressed and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks until completely dry before being blended.

One of our favorite ways to enjoy this Rosé is alongside Celebrity Chef Jamie Geller’s Linguine with Grilled Vegetables. This perfect summer dish takes advantage of peak-season produce and is satisfying without weighing you down in the heat. The wine complements the fresh summer vegetables and pairs beautifully with the savory, herbaceous crunch of the breadcrumbs without overpowering the light pasta sauce.

❤️ Why I Like This Wine

I love this Rosé because it delivers everything I look for in a summer wine—bright fruit flavors, refreshing acidity, and incredible versatility. The combination of berries, citrus, and minerality makes it equally enjoyable on its own or paired with food.

What I appreciate most is its balance. It is crisp and refreshing without being overly sharp, and fruit-forward without being sweet. Whether I’m enjoying a casual lunch on the patio, sharing a bottle with friends, or serving it alongside a summer dinner, this is the kind of Rosé that always seems to fit the occasion.

🍇 About the Winery

The winery was founded by Shraga Rozenberg and his late wife, Tamar Rozenberg. A former social worker, Shraga, began by making blackberry and cherry wine in his backyard. His first commercial harvest came in 1995, producing 5,000 bottles. Ten years later, what began as a hobby became Gush Etzion Winery.

Located south of Jerusalem in the Judean Hills, the winery takes its inspiration from the region’s rich history. The area is symbolized by “The Lone Oak,” the namesake of this wine.

Before the establishment of the State of Israel, several communities existed in the region. During the War of Independence, the area was heavily contested, and many of those communities were destroyed. The Lone Oak, a tree estimated to be more than 700 years old, was one of the few landmarks to survive and became a symbol of remembrance, resilience, and hope.

Following the Six-Day War in 1967, the region was rebuilt and revitalized. Today, Gush Etzion is home to more than 70,000 residents across 22 communities. The Lone Oak still stands—but it is no longer alone.

The winery features a visitor center offering daily tours and tastings, as well as an archaeological garden that highlights the similarities between ancient and modern winemaking techniques.

👨‍🍳 About the Winemaker

Today, Shraga, now in his 70s, remains deeply involved in the winemaking process, while his son Assaf manages the vineyards and oversees production. Gush Etzion Winery produces approximately 120,000 bottles annually.
